Olena Dats’ brought European fashion with Ukrainian soul to American land

Olena Dats’ brought European fashion with Ukrainian soul to American land

These shows took place in Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY, Clifton, NJ, Chicago, IL, and Washington, DC.

The final show was held at and with the full support of the Embassy of Ukraine to the USA. This occasion provided a unique opportunity to showcase Ukrainian art and culture to the diplomatic representatives of the multicultural community of the American capital, leading Ukrainian, American and international government officials, as well as top print and broadcast media outlets in Ukraine and the United States and to bring their attention to the main cause behind those shows – fundraising for humanitarian and medical assistance for children in Ukraine who suffer from the ongoing war. Program of the show also included the raffle where Georgian Ambassador was declared the winner. With the generous support of our donors, the UFA was able to raise $1,000 for children in Ukraine during the fashion show in Washington, DC.

In addition to the UFA, these charitable fashion events were supported by other community non-profit organizations such as Razom, Ukrainian National Women's League of America (UNWLA Branch #137), and also Ukrainian Chicago and InLove magazines. Moreover, the event in New Jersey was organized under the auspices of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine at the United Nations.

The main organizer of the event has been the Ukrainian Federation of America (UFA). UFA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1991 and registered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Federation of America serves the community through six very active programs (Advocacy and Information, Arts and Culture, Education, Health Care, Humanitarian Aid and Social Services).

All fashion shows of Olena Dats’ in the U.S. were charitable events. They were organized to raise funds for humanitarian and medical needs of Ukrainian children affected by the war. All proceeds from each show will benefit this cause through different programs of involved organizations. Hundreds attended and contributed to the cause, many contributed as sponsors at the business and personal level, and all models involved in these shows were volunteers, many of whom are of Ukrainian descent. It was a perfect chance to combine fashion and charity for such a kind cause.

Iryna Mazur is the Program Director of Advocacy and Information at the Ukrainian Federation of America.
