About 58% of Ukrainians never tried to protect their rights, - ombudswoman

About 58% of the citizens of Ukraine said that they did not try to protect their rights even if they were violated.  This is the data of the pools held with the support of the UN Development Program in Ukraine, Democratic Initiatives Funds named after Ilko Kucheriv at the initiative of Valeria Lutkovska, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. The report is published on the website of the ombudswoman.

‘About 58% of the Ukrainians said that they never tried to protect their rights even when they were violated. Talking about those who decided to fight for their rights, the significant number of them (23%) chose the search of the needed people and appeal to the relatives among all present means of the defense’, the report said.

Lutkovska noted that, unfortunately, such index creates the social demand for the corruption and shows the presence of the great problem – mistrust to the judicial branch of the authority that exists in Ukraine.
