Foreign experts granted Ukrainian citizenship to serve in government

President Poroshenko decree grants 3 foreigners Ukrainian citizenship to lead government ministries     

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko wrote in his Twitter: "(I have) decreed to grant Ukraine's citizenship to three foreign experts – Natalie Jaresko, Aleksandr Kvitashvili and Aivaras Abromavicius". 

According to media reports, President Poroshenko has issued a decree granting Ukrainian citizenship to three foreigners to allow them to take up positions in the Cabinet of Minsters. If their appointments are confirmed, US citizen of Ukrainian origin Natalie Jaresko will head the Ministry of Finance, Lithuanian Aivaras Abromavicius will take charge of the Ministry of Economy, and Georgian-born Alexander Kvitashvili will lead the Ministry of Health.

Earlier it was reported that Georgia’s former President Mikheil Saakashvili had turned down an invitation to take the position of Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister.
