An emotional Poroshenko describes the Kramatorsk massacre

Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, February 11,  President Petro Poroshenko gave an emotional account of the shelling of Kramatorsk. He emphasized that terrorists had deliberately carried out the shelling of the town, where more than 80,000 people live.

“Scenes that a normal  person cannot bear physically. The tail  (of the rocket) sticks out of the ground. A mother’s purse is lying on the ground… A child’s toy is on the ground… The mother has died. The three-year-old little boy with his arm torn off… The operation lasted all night to save his life,” he said barely restraining tears.

“Sixteen dead, mostly civilians, 66 wounded — 11 in extremely serious condition. Five children. What did they suffer for?” he asked.

According to Poroshenko, cluster munitions, which have been banned by the Geneva Cnvention, were fired from Smerch multiple rocket launchers and struck a residential building in Kramatorsk.

Poroshenko said he spoke with the wounded in the hospital and they all had the same message.

“We want peace. We want to live in Ukraine. We want the integrity of Ukraine. We want the return of order and the end of aggression.  We want the invader’s armies to leave Ukraine,” he said.

As has been reported, on February 10, terrorists fired rockets at the Kramatorsk airport. Shells hit the residential sector of the city. As a result of the shelling, 16 people died.

President Poroshenko said he would bring fragments of the Smerch cluster munitions that were used to fire on Kramatorsk to the negotiations in Minsk.
