Christmas Eve festivities to be held in Sofiivska square on Dec. 24
On Dec. 24, Kyiv will host a celebration for the Catholic Christmas Eve for the first time under the name “Ukraine and the world celebrate Christmas together”, as Diana Popova, head of the department of culture of the Kyiv city council told.
In particular, at 3 pm, a competition of Christmas carol performance among families will be held. At 5 pm, there will be a concert featuring Ukrainian performers. There will also be a Nativity scene with live animals.
Due to the safety reasons, the Village of Santa is relocated from Mariinsky Park (where there are protesters at the moment) to the Lesia Ukrainka square.
Overall, 15 events are planned for the Christmas holidays, including over 40 concerts and other activities. The main Christmas Tree of Kyiv is to be opened tomorrow, Dec. 19.
