CELL PHONE CASES RESEMBLING HANDGUNS COULD BE BANNED IN CHICAGO

Chicago could become the first major city in the United States to ban a cell phone case that looks like a handgun.

The City Council Finance Committee Monday approved an ordinance banning those cases.

Police departments across the country have condemned the cases, saying officers could easily mistake them for a real weapon.

The ordinance would set a fine of $750 for possession of the gun-like cases.

The measure goes to the full council on Wednesday.
