Study shows Chicago is friendliest city for tourists in U.S.
Chicago is famous for being friendly to tourists. Locals might roll their eyes at visitors' bags of Garrett Popcorn or their coordinated Cubs apparel, but we'll still give out impeccable directions to the city's best sights and attractions when asked, and we'll even recommend the best restaurants to eat at along the way.
Chicagoans' hospitality hasn't gone unnoticed, according to a study from Stratos Jet Charters. This group's research looked into #tourist tweets from locations across the country and sifted through positively and negatively charged tourist-related sentiments from each state. The Midwest, specifically Chicago, had an overwhelmingly positive score. Not surprisingly, New York was ranked as the second most tourist-hating city in the country.
