CIA protects Firtash against FSB tricks, military expert
The arrest in Austria and extradition of Ukrainian tycoon Dmytro Firtash to the USA will significantly change the political balance in Ukraine, ex-top officer of the general staff Col. Oleh Zhdanov told Gordon Feb. 24.
“First, Firtash will tell US investigators what kind of deals he had struck with Pres Poroshenko during his presidential campaign in 2014. Besides, Firtash was a go-between at the Ukraine-Russia gas talks and knows about the schemes, kickbacks and their recipients,” Zhdanov said.
“I’m certain that Firtash will talk – especially because he may be put in the Guantanamo prison where tongues are loosened easily,” he added.
“US courts will try the Firtash case much quicker than they did the case of Pavlo Lazarenko.
The only concern is that special services are in a clash over the Ukrainian tycoon. Judging by the fact he is still alive, the Russian FSB has not reached him yet. Obviously, CIA is keeping a close eye on Firtash. Otherwise, he would have been treated to the Kremlin cocktail: tea with polonium,” Col. Zhdanov said.
