McCain asks Trump to give Ukraine lethal weapons
John McCain, the U.S. senator and Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services widely known for his support of Ukraine in Donbas conflict, sent President Donald Trump a letter. He asked the head of the state for lethal weapons for Ukraine. Reuters reported that on Thursday.
‘In the light of recent Russian attacks and prospects of the aggression against Ukraine, I urge you to exercise the powers that you’ve been granted by the law , particularly those in the area of national authorization of defense in 2017. This way one can provide Ukraine with defensive lethal assistance, so that the country can protect itself from further attacks of Russia and its separatist sidekicks,’ McCain wrote.
The escalation in Avdiivka has been continuing for five consecutive days. The situation remains tough as the town takes heavy damage from constant artillery attacks launched by Russia-backed mercenaries. The state of emergency was introduced in the town.
