Poroshenko signs law on medical reform

Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine signed the law 'On state financial guarantees of medical service and medicaments' that launches the medical reform during his work visit to Odesa region as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.

The draft law on the medical reform adopted by the Ukrainian parliament provides the payment of the medical services, items and medicaments for the preventive measures, diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation connected to the diseases, traumas, poisoning, pathological states, pregnancy and childbearing from the budget.

The document also provides that the wage of the doctors will be at least 250% of the average wage in Ukraine as at July 2016.

Poroshenko is sure that 2018 will be the year of the implementation of the medical reform.

'I start the medical reform by signing of this law. The Ministry of Healthcare is the next to act under the careful attention of the government. I am sure that 2018 will be a successful year for the implementation of the medical reform, for every professional doctor that provide quality medical services, for every patient', he claimed.

Moreover, Poroshenko signed the law on the improvement of the access to the medical service in the countryside.

The document provides that the medical establishments for the provision of the primary healthcare. It can be the first aid/ obstetric or feldsher’s station, ambulance station, aid post, medical station, mobile aid post or pharmacy branch.

According to the draft law, the primary medical service should be free for the citizens of the village. It will be financed by the state, local budgets and other local sources.
