Russian Navy submarine appears off coast of U.S. before Putin’s visit to New York

According to the foreign media reports, before the visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to New York for the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, the Russian Navy submarine was spotted by the U.S. military off the coast of Georgia, near the base of the U.S. Navy Kings Bay, where six Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines are deployed, Fox News informs referring to the sources in the Pentagon.

“The Pentagon is tracking the movement of the Russian intel ship, while it remains in international waters,” the U.S. Department of Defense informs. The Russian submarine has been identified in the North Atlantic back in the last month, since then it has been closely monitored by the U.S. military satellites.

According to the Pentagon, the Russian submarine is carrying out exploration. At the moment the submarine is 300 miles away from the coast of the United States and is heading towards Cuba.

It should be noted that the Russian President Vladimir Putin will head the Russian delegation at the 70th session of the UN General Assemblyto be held this month in New York.

The list of deputy delegates includes: Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov, Russia’s ambassador to the U.S. Sergei Kislyak, Director of the Department of International Organizations Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Pankin, Director of the Department on issues of non-proliferation and arms control of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Ulyanov, and Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin.
