Saakashvili to continue his political activity
In today’s court hearing on choosing a preventive measure for Mikheil Saakashvili, the court didn’t grant prosecution’s application to put the politician under house arrest with an ankle monitor.
Now the next court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 14.
As we reported earlier, on Friday night the enforcement officers detained ex-governor of Odesa region Mikheil Saakashvili and took him to the Security Service department, where he was placed in a detention facility. He is accused of supporting a criminal group.
On Dec. 5, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko announced that the protests organized by Saakashvili had been financed by allies of ex-President Yanukovych. As proof, he made public the audio file, in which Saakashvili’s aide is talking to a trustee of oligarch Serhiy Kurchenko. Saakashvili called these accusations “fake”.
