New York Welcomes Putin With Big Protest

This morning a big Ukrainian protest “No more wars, lies, vetoes, MH17, murders, oppression” began outside of the United Nations, reports UsPost corespondent from New York.

This rally was organized by the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA.org). As Andrij Dobriansky who represents the UCCA said, “Belarusans, Poles, Georgians, Estonian, Latvians, Lithuanians, Circassians and Crimean Tatars stand together in solidarity with those whose lives have been destroyed by Vladimir Putin. This coalition of solidarity will also stand alongside Russians Against the War and local democracy, human rights and LGBT activists united in outrage as Russian President Putin steps foot on US soil for the first time in 10 years to address the United Nations General Assembly”.

In the course of two days, Ukrainians and their allies will voice their protest against Putin and his war in Ukraine. They want to bring a strong message to the world leaders who are coming to the United Nations General Assembly on Monday, September 28th.

Ukraine demands from Putin to #FreeSavchenko and other political prisoners who are currently held in Russian jails without committing any crimes. Ukraine demands from Putin to remove his army off Ukraine. Ukraine demands from the United Nations to uphold its Charter, and especially, Article 6 which says if “a Member of the United Nations has persistently violated the Principles contained in the present Charter may be expelled from the Organization”. Russia has violated the UN Charter countless times but it still remains the permanent member of the Security Council”. The UN is hypocritical because it doesn't follow the main document it has been founded on.

Today and tomorrow Ukrainians will stand outside of the United Nations for human rights, freedom and peace. We invite everyone who shares the same values to join us in this fight.
