BOLINGBROOK SHOOTING KILLS 2

Two people were killed in a Bolingbrook shooting that led to a soft lockdown at nearby Bolingbrook High School. No students were ever in danger, officials said.

The soft lockdown, which lasted 39 minutes, at Bolingbrook High School was at the request of Bolingbrook police, school officials said, and only as a precautionary measure. The shooting occurred two blocks away just before 10 a.m. Monday.

Valley View Public Schools posted a statement: At the request of the Bolingbrook Police Department because of a community incident, Bolingbrook High School was placed in soft lockdown shortly before 10 a.m. Monday. Roughly 15 minutes later, Jane Addams Middle School, Independence Elementary School and Oak View Elementary School were placed in soft lockdowns as well. A soft lockdown means all doors were locked and no one was allowed to enter or leave the buildings. Normal activities continue inside the building during a soft lockdown. Upon advisement from law enforcement authorities, the lockdowns ended without incident at approximately 10:50 a.m.

Bolingbrook police said two people were killed in a shooting at YCB International, located in an industrial area near Veterans Parkway and Remington in the southwest suburb around 9:30 a.m. One of the fatalities worked at YCB, police said. Neither of the two other employees present at the business was injured.

Neither of the fatalities has been identified. Police said there is no public threat.

Several law enforcement agencies responded to the scene. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
