Injuries and Damage as Tornado Tosses Cars in Ohio

Two people in Ohio reportedly suffered minor injuries after a tornado briefly touched down in a Dayton suburb, flipping vehicles on their roofs, authorities said.

The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched down near a shopping center in Beavercreek, east of Dayton, at around 8 p.m., but it was still trying to determine its strength Tuesday evening.

Two people suffered minor injuries, Beavercreek Police Capt. Eric Grille told NBC station WDTN in Dayton. Trees were reported down in the area but no homes were damaged, he told the station.

The tornado touched down amid forecasts with the potential for severe weather from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes, according to the Weather Channel.

The tornado touched down after the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Western Ohio, including Dayton that expired at 10 p.m.
